"I sew in my head. Others daydream, I sew."

-Kimberly

A dreamer, designer and creator by heart, I have been sewing since I was 9 years old. My love for the art of sewing has been handed down to me from generation to generation. My sweet mother taught me all that I know and I truly adore my God-given talent.

After having competed from the age of 9 to 18, I swore I'd never touch another sewing machine. I had been slapped on the hand too many times for loose threads and not wanting to follow a pattern; I was done.

It was soon after I needed curtains for an apartment. Short on funds and the ability to make my own, I hauled my great-grandmother's machine that felt a weight of 100 lbs. to college with me. I fell back in love.

I love challenging myself and designing something from scratch. I sew in my head. Others daydream, I sew.

It was 2009 when I sat at my kitchen table with an idea of taking my designs and selling them for others to enjoy. The business name Woman On A Whim (now Loose Threads Market) was created and brought to life. After all, that was me, on a whim. I never knew what my head would sew next.

My #1 product, The Whimzie, became something that I never dreamed, popular. Hard to keep up and demanded by many, I decided to take a leap of faith. Soon the word "wholesale" became a word I used a little more often and attention was diverted to this new venture. The Whimzie was constructed from an idea my aunt and I had and began as "one of those things" we made and gave as gifts. After a long car ride and a lot of collaborative brainstorming, my husband came up with the name "Whimzie." Soon it was on a website, in stores, and I was sewing them day and night out of my closed-in garage.

I am a dreamer who loves anything handmade or homegrown. If you need me, I can be found with my family, in the chicken coop, strolling my garden, or behind the sewing machine. Every item I create has a small piece of my heart within it. Makes my day and means the world that you're here.
